First Communion

The second grade students at Immaculate Conception School along with those in our parish religious education program are both actively engaged in preparing for first Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Besides the preparations that happen in the classroom, portions of the preparations also happen outside the classrooms.

Four sessions - prayer, Bible, Reconciliation & Eucharist - are held on a weekday evening, where the students from the parish school and the religious education program meet together for active faith formation. The preparation reaches a climax on Jesus Day.

A significant part of the First Holy Communion preparation at the parish is the involvement of the families the students in the faith formation process. In sessions specially designed for parents and guardians, the catechists also renew the faith of the entire family. The. focus of these sessions is to underscore the fact that First Holy Communion is an event that happens to the child but an events that impact the faith of the entire family.
